Pakeezah (Hindustani pronunciation: [ˈpaːkiːzaː]; transl. The Pure One) is a 1972 Indian musical romantic drama written, directed, and produced by Kamal Amrohi. The film stars Meena Kumari as the eponymous lead, alongside Ashok Kumar and Raaj Kumar.

- Pakeezah took 17 years to complete and not only because Director Kamal Amrohi and his wife/heroine Meena Kumari had serious differences. Says Kamal Amrohi's son Tajdar, "With due respect, music composer Khayyam and Sunil Dutt Saab had tried to persuade her to resume the shooting."

But Pakeezah had several unique aspects which made it the most talked about film of the time. On the face of it, there was nothing very unusual in the story.
