Derby Club was a musical and comedy club located in Milan, Italy. The Gruppo Repellente. The club was founded in the late 1950s by Gianni Bongioanni as a restaurant named "Gi-Go" in which live jazz music was occasionally played.
Among its tiny sofas and black puffs, on the stage of the Derby some of the most important comedians from Milan’s art scene launched their careers, such as Aldo and Giovanni, Diego Abatantuono, Claudio Bisio, Massimo Boldi, Enzo Iacchetti, Giobbe Covatta, Giorgio Faletti, Paolo Rossi, Enzo Jannacci, Teo Teocoli and many more.
There, at the suggestion of Bongiovanni, he became a stand-up comedian, creating characters that soon became popular in the club and, after appearances on local television, outside. In those years he and Teo Teocoli performed as a duo, both in the Derby Club and on television.
