Setapak (Chinese: 文良港) is a town and mukim straddling both norteastern Kuala Lumpur and Gombak District of Selangor, Malaysia. Etymology. Formerly a tin-mining and rubber estate area, in Malay tapak means step, hence Setapak means one step, probably referring to the close proximity of the suburb to Kuala Lumpur.

Setapak is one of Kuala Lumpur’s oldest suburbs, and within the area is Wangsa Maju, one of the largest townships in KL. Formerly a tin mining hub and rubber estate, Setapak was first inhabited the Minangkabau and Orang Asli.

Setapak is a major suburb in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is situated in the north-eastern part of Kuala Lumpur and has an area of 160 km2. The northern limit of Setapak is Gunung Bunga Buah; its north-eastern limit is Gunung Bidai; to the east is Bukit Dinding and to the south-east is the Padang Tembak.
