I would write: They bowed down to the pharaoh. They bowed down to Pharaoh Amenhotep. (or whoever; I just made that name up, I think.) God punished Pharaoh for his unfairness.

Since this sentence deals with a tyrant taking charge of his people, I imagine "disobedience" is the word you want.
