Jun 26, 2010 · When I hear it, it is meant to include men and women. I agree; "brethren" is often used to mean "brothers and sisters." If you want to specifically refer to a group of women bonded like sisters, you can say "sisterhood" (ie sororities, the sisterhood of the feminist movement, the Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants, and so on).

This is from Wiki: "the title of the album was adapted from the song "Get Yer Yas Yas Out" by Blind Boy Fuller in which "yas yas" is a euphemism for "ass" (arse). Bromance is a colloquial term--widely used by mass media but not a term that would be used in a serious sociological or cultural discussion unless cited with quotation marks (or air quotes in spoken discussions) to note its informality. Amitié virile is more standard to my mind.
