Mar 26, 2011 · Bassist Stephan Crump and alto saxophonist Steve Lehman are both musicians with little time for musical boundaries. Their CVs confirm this, but what they perhaps don't throw up so readily is that they are both closer to the future of this music than many of their contemporaries.
The fruits of those sessions have been diced up to create the two tracks on Kaleidoscope and Collage. So in a way, it's a combination of spontaneous improvisation and some cut-and-paste composition after the fact.
Steve Lehman (born 1978) is an American composer and saxophonist in the genres of jazz and experimental music. [1] His compositions have been performed by a number of international performers and orchestras.
