Hill Boothby (27 October 1708 – 16 January 1756) was an English friend and late love of Samuel Johnson. Life. Boothby was born in Ashbourne in 1708. She was the granddaughter of Sir William Boothby, third baronet, and daughter of Mr. Brook Boothby, of Ashbourne Hall.
BOOTHBY, Miss HILL (1708–1756), friend of Dr. Johnson, born on 27 Oct. 1708, was grand-daughter of Sir William Boothby, third baronet, and daughter of Mr. Brook Boothby, of Ashbourne Hall, Derbyshire. Her mother was Elizabeth Fitzherbert, a daughter of John Fitzherbert, of Somersall-Herbert.
It passes the minor fort of Castle Hill Boothby and then, 1 mile (1.6 km) west of Brampton, reaches the next major fort, that of Brampton Old Church, 6 miles (9.7 km) from Nether Denton and 30 + 1 ⁄ 2 miles (49.1 km) from Corstopitum. The fort is so called because half of it is buried under Old St Martin's church and its graveyard.
The Boothby Baronetcy, of Friday Hill in the parish of Chingford in the County of Essex, was created in the Baronetage of England on 9 November 1660 for Thomas Boothby. The title became extinct on the early death of his son, Thomas, the second Baronet, in 1669.
At the crest of the hill Boothby saw a mass of Southern troopers crowded around the single cannon. After firing a volley with their carbines, Boothby ordered his men to draw their sabers as they charged up the slope.
