But there are specific guppy strains in the higher segment that are harder to maintain and to breed unlike most commercial guppy strains. What strains are popular amongst breeders is hard to tell for that's always a personal preference.

But even with a mutation, most people will still use related fish to create a new strain. But again, I would do that for a couple of generations to stabilize the right traits. And again, I would add new blood into the line afterwards.

Feb 21, 2017 · Hi, I've noticed in the past few days that my male guppy has developed a dark black spot on its side, it's not grown or shown any signs of it disappearing. I'm not sure as to what it is or if it's harmful, has anyone got any ideas? Thanks in advance
