Gjergj Xhuvani (20 December 1963 – 14 August 2019) was an Albanian film director, screenwriter and producer. His 2001 film Slogans was Albania's submission to the 74th Academy Awards for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, but was not accepted as a nominee.
Director: Slogans. Gjergj Xhuvani was born in 1963, in Tirana in Albania. In 1986, he graduated from the Arts Academy (majoring in the dramatic arts) in Tirana. From 1986 to 1990, he worked as an assistant director on many films, and in 1991, directed his first short film Bardh e zi (1991).

Gjergj Xhuvani (20 December 1963 – 14 August 2019) was an Albanian movie director, screenwriter, and producer. He was born in Tirana, Albania.
Renowned director Gjergj Xhuvani has passed away at the age of 56. Giovanni died in a hospital in Rome where he was being treated for a serious illness. According to the Balkan Web, the director was in Italy to shoot a new film, but unfortunately failed to complete the project that would be the last.
