William Sheehan (born March 19, 1953 [1]) is an American musician known for playing bass guitar with acts such as Talas, Steve Vai, David Lee Roth, Mr. Big, Niacin, and The Winery Dogs. He is also known for his "lead bass" playing style, including the use of chording, two-handed tapping, "three-finger picking " technique and controlled feedback.
Billy Sheehan has played bass on dozens of records and toured all over the world for many decades. His unique and original style of playing has been celebrated and documented everywhere.

Jan 23, 2023 · Almost 40 years later, bassist Billy Sheehan decided it was time to revisit those lost songs. “We got together and played together again, and we had a riot,” Sheehan says. “So we thought, ‘Why not play? Why not do all those songs that were kind of left behind and never really properly recorded?”
