This is a last outcrop of the Eastern Ghats, with a Bhairavar temple and five peedas in the rocks of the hill called the Pandava Theerthams, is also sacred to the Muslims with a dargah of Waliyullah Sheikh Abdullah Saheb on its peak.
Piranmalai is to the north-west of Thirupathur fro 24 kms, 58 kms from Sivagangai and 194 kms from Rameswaram. This place is situated at the bottom of the high mountain 2,500 feet in height. There is a Piravar Temple and Mosque of Sheik Abdullah. It is a place of pilgrimage for Muslims.
