Shaad Ali is an Indian film director and screenwriter. Early life and education. Ali was born to Muzaffar Ali and Subhashini Ali (née Sahgal), an Indian politician and member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). [1] . He is thus the grandson of Azad Hind Fauj commander Lakshmi Sahgal and Colonel Prem Sahgal.
Shaad Ali was born on 1 January 1970 in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. He is a director and actor, known for Jhoom Barabar Jhoom (2007), Bunty Aur Babli (2005) and Soorma (2018). He is married to Aarti Patkar.

He started his career as an assistant director to Mani Ratnam and assisted him on the film Dil Se (1998), which starred Shah Rukh Khan and Manisha Koirala in the pivotal roles.
