Chachi 420 (transl. The trickster aunt ) is a 1997 Indian Hindi -language comedy film , co-written, produced and directed by Kamal Haasan . The film is an official remake of the 1996 Tamil movie Avvai Shanmughi ., [2] [3] [4] which itself was an adaptation of 1993 film Mrs. Doubtfire , starring Robin Williams .
Jai (Kamal Hassan) and Janki (Tabu) are filing for divorce from the marriage that saw the birth of their daughter, Bharti (Baby Sana). Jai is permitted a weekly visit to see Bharti, but after sneaking into the house for some extra time, even that privilege is taken away. When Jai discovers Janki is searching for a nanny, he sees an opportunity to spend time with his daughter and, with the help of a makeup artist, transforms into "Laxmi," a female caregiver who seems perfect for the job.
