Jan 21, 2019 · Subject: Animal Farm and the Dutch parliament in Sept. 2018. This book is an excellent story, parable, if you like, where George Orwell uses metaphors representing human affairs, the playground of power, hierarchy, manipulation, hypnosis and slavery.
ANIMAL FARM George Orwell (whose real name was Eric Blair) was born in India in 1903, and was educated at Eton. From 1922 to 1928 he served in Burma in the Indian Imperial Police. For the next two years he lived in Paris, and then camé to England as a school-teacher. Later he worked in a bookshop.
GEORGE ORWELL. The animals on Mr. Jones’s farm stage a successful revolution, and take the place over. Their hopes, their plans, and their achievements form the subject of Animal Farm.
Context. This story is set in Manor Farm later to be renamed Animal Farm. The most respected animal at Manor Farm is the prize boar called Old Major. He is concerned at the neglect and cruelty he and the fellow animals suffer at the hands of Farmer Jones and his men.
