Postgraduate study. Our postgraduate courses are world-renowned and serve students in a variety of legal fields. Courses are of a high academic standard and students are expected to analyse complex material, involve themselves in debate and self-lead their learning.
The Oxford Law courses naturally focus on English law, but the fundamental principles of English common law play a key role in other jurisdictions. Graduates of the four-year course also gain important international knowledge during their year abroad.

Sep 28, 2023 · About the courseThe Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) is a world-renowned taught graduate course in law, designed to serve outstanding law students from common law backgrounds. The academic standard is significantly higher than that required in a first law degree, and only those with outstanding first law degrees are admitted.
Apr 25, 2024 · The course begins with a broad base and a general introduction to three subjects studied in the undergraduate Law course (Criminal Law, Constitutional Law and Roman Law). You will study a selection of cases from a variety of subjects and will also complete an extended essay.
