    Murasoli Maran (17 August 1934 – 23 November 2003) was an Indian politician and an important leader of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party which was headed by his maternal uncle and mentor, M. Karunanidhi.

During the Emergency, he was jailed for a year under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act. After that, Murasoli Maran edited the Tamil daily newspaper “Murasoli” and released it in Chennai. He was also the editor of the English weekly “The Rising Sun.”
