WABA coordinates the global World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) campaign that aims to inform, anchor, engage and galvanise action on breastfeeding and related issues. Since 2016, we have aligned our WBW campaign to United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Breastfeeding is one of the most effective ways to ensure child health and survival and yet currently, fewer than half of infants under 6 months old are exclusively breastfed.
Aug 3, 2023 · This year’s theme will focus on breastfeeding and work, providing a strategic opportunity to advocate for essential maternity rights that support breastfeeding – maternity leave for a minimum of 18 weeks, ideally more than 6 months, and workplace accommodations after this point.

World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) is a global network of individuals and organisations dedicated to the protection, promotion and support of breastfeeding worldwide. Annually, WABA coordinates and organises the World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) between Aug 1-7.
WORLD BREASTFEEDING WEEK 2022. #WBW2022 will focus on strengthening the capacity of actors that have to protect, promote and support breastfeeding across different levels of society. These actors make up the warm chain of support for breastfeeding.
WHO will use the week to champion best practices for workplace-related breastfeeding support, in different countries, across different contract types and sectors, and promote actions that can be taken to help ensure breastfeeding works for all women who work, wherever they work.
Aug 7, 2022 · In line with the theme of World Breastfeeding Week 2022 “Step Up for Breastfeeding,” the Global Breastfeeding Collective is calling on governments to protect and promote women’s access to care based on the evidence-based Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding.

Since 2016, WBW has been aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In 2018, a World Health Assembly resolution endorsed WBW as an important breastfeeding promotion strategy. Inform.
WABA is in consultative status with UNICEF and an NGO in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC). WABA coordinates the annual World Breastfeeding Week campaign.
