Agassi first became No. 1 in the PIF ATP Rankings on 10 April 1995, unseating Pete Sampras and staying there for 30 weeks. Sampras took back the top spot on 6 November 1995 and finished that season as the year-end No. 1.
Agassi compiled a 870-274 career record (6 th best in history upon his retirement), but more importantly won a Career Grand Slam by capturing the singles championship at all four majors, a feat only four other male tennis players in history accomplished.
