Uttam Kumar first ever come to film production field. He always want to take Bengali cinema on height of Bollywood level. So he jointly produced with famous director Ajoy Kar and founded a production house kept the name as Alochaya Production Private L.T.D. At first the Ajoy Kar taken a iconic English novel Random Harvest written by John Milton which had been already made a film in Hollywood.
Harano Sur (transl. The Lost Tune) is a 1957 Indian Bengali-language romantic drama film by Ajoy Kar, starring Suchitra Sen and Uttam Kumar, with music by Hemanta Mukherjee, and sung by Geeta Dutt.This is the first film that Uttam had produced along with Ajoy Kar. The film is regarded as one of the finest examples of Bengali cinema of this early period. The film is based on the 1942 American film Random Harvest. The film became the highest grossing Bengali film of 1957.

The one thing that made this movie less enjoyable was the pacing. Harano Sur is 162 minutes long, and it feels like it. On the one hand, this pacing is ok: it was the style at that time, and it allows the characters to breathe and really show their emotions. But on the other hand, it makes the movie difficult to sit through.
