Overview. All citizens of India, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka are required to apply for a visa before entering Finland and/or other countries under the Schengen agreement. Before applying, please ensure you understand your particular ‘purpose of visit’.

1. Surname
Enter your last name exactly as it appears in your travel document. If you do not have a last name in your travel document, enter your first name.
2. Surname at birth
Enter the last name given to you at birth (even if it is the same as your current last name).
Former family name
Provide any other former family names.
12. Type of travel document
Select the type of your travel document.
13. Number of travel document
Enter the number of your travel document exactly as it appears in your travel document, using only numbers and/or letters. Blank spaces or symbols are not allowed. The maximum length of the number is nine (9) digits.
14. Date of issue
Enter the date of issue of your travel document in the format DD.MM.YYYY.

Provide your home address and optionally an additional address where you are (officially) registered in.

Please enter a valid email address.
Phone number
Provide at least one telephone number where you can be contacted, in international format, incl. country and area codes.
23. Purpose(s) of the journey
Select the purpose(s) of travel. The main purpose of the journey is mandatory.
24. Additional information on purpose of stay
In this field you can provide additional information on the purpose of your stay. For example, if you have several purposes of stay, you can specify the main purpose here. If you apply for a visa for one day trips to Finland, this field is mandatory (please note that in this case “One day trip without accommodation and invitation details” has to be selected on the page “Contacts and accommodation”).
25. Member State of main destination
Select your main country and any other countries of destination. Please notice that your main country of destination should be Finland. If Finland is representing your main country of destination, select the represented country as your main destination.
30. Surname and first name of the inviting person
Provide the last name and first name of the inviting person(s) in the Member State(s), if applicable. Provide the name of hotel(s) or temporary place(s) of accommodation in the Member State(s), if applicable. Family members of EU, EEA or CH citizens or of UK nationals who are Withdrawal Agreement beneficiaries under the Directive 2004/38/EC shall not fill in this field.

Provide the telephone number of the inviting person(s)/hotel(s)/temporary place(s) of accommodation.
