Jai (Kamal Hassan) and Janki (Tabu) are filing for divorce from the marriage that saw the birth of their daughter, Bharti (Baby Sana). Jai is permitted a weekly visit to see Bharti, but after sneaking into the house for some extra time, even that privilege is taken away. When Jai discovers Janki is searching for a nanny, he sees an opportunity to spend time with his daughter and, with the help of a makeup artist, transforms into "Laxmi," a female caregiver who seems perfect for the job.

Chachi 420 (transl. The trickster aunt) is a 1997 Indian Hindi-language comedy film, co-written, produced and directed by Kamal Haasan. The film is an official remake of the 1996 Tamil movie Avvai Shanmughi., which itself was an adaptation of 1993 film Mrs. Doubtfire, starring Robin Williams.
