Jun 27, 2013 · The reason why you want to join a company is that they have a job available, which pays reasonably well, which seems to be reasonably interesting, they don't have a reputation of mistreating employees, the company isn't doing anything that you morally disagree with, and has a business with a future.
So I have an interview with a pretty small company (about 50 employees), that I really want just because it is in my field, and I really don't want to leave my city for personal reasons, like my family being here, and I really don't like big cities.
Dec 30, 2020 · If their mission or operations do not excite you, and you are not looking to find a company that has missions or a business model that excites you, I'd look for other reasons why you'd choose one company over another. Sometimes, you will have to find these reasons during the interview, because it might be things like team structure, languages they work with, mentoring programs, ability to set your own schedule, clear direction, etc.
Feb 9, 2019 · If the future employers ask me "Why do you want to join us?", I plan to say "I am interested in the education industry because many of family members, from the last last generation, teach at colleges and high schools. I want to continue that path to make a positive impact on people through education." Is it a good idea to mention my family history?

Quite apart from any notes or records, at the very least, the hiring manager(s) in Dept Y will surely want to ask the interviewers from Dept X if the recall why you didn't get hired. It could make a big difference depending on whether they say "oh he was excellent, but we hired Fred instead because he seemed even better" or "oh, that guy was an idiot".
May 24, 2024 · Doing this diverts attention away from what kept you from returning to your previous role and indicates that you want to move forwards. If the interviewer wants to press further, then you'll need to respond with something that your previous company/role didn't quite fulfill that your new role/company will. a healthier work/life balance
May 14, 2014 · You sound as if you're driving yourself crazy right now just trying to get some work, and that doesn't even scratch the surface on the other part which is doing the work once you get it. Inform the interviewer that you're interested in narrowing your focus to whatever your specialty is, and want to limit how much you are involved in running things all the way from the top.

Nov 14, 2017 · Another concern you might want to diffuse is that you don't have a day-job. Some people are so hard on cash that they need both a full-time job during the day and a second job at night. Those people often have trouble getting enough work-life balance to do either job properly.
