Thompson Rivers University (TRU) was established in 1970 as a public academic and research university. The main campus is located in Kamloops, British Columbia and it also has a campus in Williams Lake. In Kamloops, the main campus overlooks the junction of the North Thompson and South Thompson rivers, from which the university gets its name.
