Edit: commenters pointed out, and are correct, that str_replace is better than preg_replace if you really just want to remove the space character. The reason to use preg_replace would be to remove all whitespace (including tabs, etc.).
May 11, 2011 · Update: Based on this question, this: str = str.replace(/\s+/g, ''); is a better solution. It produces the same result, but it does it faster. The Regex. \s is the regex for "whitespace", and g is the "global" flag, meaning match ALL \s (whitespaces). A great explanation for + can be found here.
