ಮಹಾತ್ಮ ಗಾಂಧಿ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣ ಉದ್ಯೋಗ ಯೋಜನೆಯ ಪರಿಣಾಮಕಾರಿ ಅನುಷ್ಟಾನದ ಉದ್ದೇಶದಿಂದ ದಿನಾಂಕ 2-4-2008 ರಂದು ನರೇಗಾ ನಿರ್ದೇಶನಾಲಯವನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಯೋಜನೆಯ 2013ರ ಕಾರ್ಯಾಚರಣೆ ಮಾರ್ಗಸೂಚಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಅನುಗುಣವಾಗಿ ಯೋಜನೆಯ ಅನುಷ್ಟಾನದ ಮೇಲ್ವಿಚಾರಣೆಗಾಗಿ ದಿನಾಂಕ 6-8-2013ರಂದು ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣಾಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಆಯುಕ್ತಾಲಯವನ್ನು ಸೃಜನೆ ಮಾಡಲಾಯಿತು.
