Mar 25, 2021 · It's not free, it's freemium. It's free for basic usage. On the hobby plan your app is not running all the time. While there's no activity, your app "sleeps", and only wakes up when a user makes a request. That makes serving the first request very slow, but for a hobby project that's alright.

It was possible to use a single db instance for both apps (two schemas) so it only bumped up the price from 14$ to 21$ per month instead of 47$ (tiny redis is free).
