Currently, the Department has 39 faculty members devoted to graduate and post-graduate teaching and world-class research in Chemistry. In addition, we have equally devoted 18 non-teaching staff taking care of administrative and other duties.
I'm a professor at the Department of Chemistry, IIT Bombay. After obtaining bachelor's degree from Osmania University in 1992 and master’s degree from University of Hyderabad in 1994, I joined Tata Institute of Fundamental Research for the PhD program and graduated in 2000.

Nov 23, 2020 · The department of Chemistry at IIT Bombay emerged as an independent entity in 1965. Within the five and a half decades that have passed since, the department has grown into a major center for teaching and research in the Chemical Sciences.

Our research program at IIT Bombay revolves mainly around organic synthesis. Currently, our group is engaged in two types of research projects, which are directed toward the synthesis of pharmacologically active natural products.
I was interested in chemistry and the Department of Chemistry is very old and renowned and it counts as the top department of chemistry across the country. Faculty to student ratio in the department is very good compared to other departments.
