Oct 22, 2024 · Arachnopeon. I have a curly haired sling that has molted four times that I know of. When I moved them into their enclosure a molt ago (beginning of September ) I noticed them climbing on the walls. I figured out that that is a common behavior after moving enclosures, but that it should stop when they had gotten used to their new space.
May 16, 2017 · Place a little cork bark in for it to web and build hide. Keep substrate dry and provide a soda lid for water dish. Keep at room temps and hey presto. This is an extremely easy species to keep.you are doing fine already.
Mar 20, 2020 · Again, no assumptions, just a general statement. Your current setup is terrestrial and not suited for the "vertical lifestyle" of arboreal tarantulas. My recommendations: Most importantly: Non humid, well ventilated environment. If it gets too stuffy, your T will eventually die. Vertical container (arboreal setup).
Jan 7, 2020 · Take one mealworm and cut it into sections along its segment lines. Drop one segment in with the sling, it will scavenge at this size. Take the rest of the segments, put them into a ziplock and drop into the freezer. Take the rest of the mealworms and put them into the fridge until needed.
Dec 25, 2009 · Arachnolord. Generally, the terms sub-adult and juvie are synonomous. For an average sized T that will attain a diagonal leg span (or DLS) of about 5-7", I'd agree with Jairi and say that under 2" is a sling, 2-4" is a juvie / sub-adult, and anything over 4" is an adult.

I keep mine in smaller enclosures than 32oz, but keep in mind Psalmopoeus are faster growing and have a nasty bite for a nw, so 32oz should hold you over for a little while. They are awesome though, my favorite. I think Moran has a recent YouTube video covering them if you want a quick overview.

The penultimate instar is the stage right before sexual maturity. In males, it is the stage right before he gets his papal bulbs; in females it is not really defined.
Nov 25, 2023 · Arachnosquire. I tong fed my 1” sling GBB a nice size mealworm, and to my surprise she grabbed it by the head (live and learn). They did seem to battle for a bit and I was worried the mealworm was biting the T, but she doesn’t look worse for wear, and the mealworm is slowly dying— I can see it’s not currently biting the spider.
