Well, here is how I’m duplicating what I think you are seeing: • Create new doc 1000 X 1000. • Make new layer. • In new layer create 100 px X 100 px rectangular selection, fill with solid color. • Note now any method of selection will show Define Pattern. • Transform-Scale the new Layer 200 percent.

Oct 19, 2019 · I just figured out you can only define a pattern from the entirety of your canvas contents. Not from a selection. Your full canvas has to contain the repeat tile. You define pattern from your single tile, then you increase canvas size to do a pattern fill layer to see how the tile repeats

As already mentioned, Window > Patterns panel is much better and more convenient way for any task with pattern management including to delete them or to restore to defaults. here it works fine, When somthing is not working properly. Reset preferences settings.

Member. Hello! I'm brand new to Photoshop and am currently taking my first photoshop class. I have version CC 2014 installed on my mac. I'm trying to create a pattern and I have my shape with a rectangular marquee around it. The feather is set to 0 pixels. I go to Edit > Define Pattern but "Define Pattern" is greyed out.
