Mar 7, 2023 · Getaway Car- a lot of fans pair this with Cruel Summer since they’re both fan favorites that never turned into singles; it has a really good narrative as well King Of My Heart- out of this list this one is the most uplifting & actually about a happy relationship LOL but once again I think the production really packs a punch on this one & has a really satisfying build up
I start my daily drive to work with Cruel Summer every time. It just gets me pumped up like no other. I've been going through a rough divorce lately, hit absolute rock bottom, had to move back in with my parents, things are beyond rough right now. But Cruel Summer gets me going from the start of the day until the end.
With Cruel Summer I feel like the appreciation of the song is dependent on the entire song and how it progresses, so when I hadn’t found it interesting at first and forced myself to listen through, I didn’t understand why people liked it so much (I think a lot of her music is like this for me since I’m used to focusing on production, not lyrics). Now after paying attention to the whole song I love it.

Then Cruel Summer comes on and I turn the volume even louder and sing along which I usually don’t for IFTHE. Then when Cruel Summer finishes, I hit the back button and listen to it again. Sometimes only 2 times, sometimes 5 times, sometimes the entire car ride the rest of the way. To me, Cruel Summer is already a top 4 Taylor Swift song to me.

Kind of like how songs will name drop other artists (actually Olivia did name drop in deva vu). It's like they are showing how much that artist meant to them. Idk I just find it flattering if the screaming bit was a nod to cruel ...
May 10, 2020 · The Loona song was released in 2018 and there is a chance that Taylor wrote and/or recorded CS before this date. If she was abe to prove this, then any (legal) claims would be void. If this couldn’t be done, then I’d absolutely understand Taylor not making Cruel Summer a single. This saddens me a little ngl🥺.
Apr 20, 2021 · Hello Swift Nation, I was blasting “Cruel Summer” while singing along in the shower, as you do. I KNOW the lyrics are actually “He looks up grinning like a devil“ but I can’t unhear what I initially thought she was singing, “He looks so pretty, like a devil” 😂😈
