The phrase, "world without end" is a most unfortunate translation and a quirk of the KJV and its progeny (KJ2000, American KJV). A good representative translation of the Greek is given by almost all other versions of which the NIV and ESV are typical: "to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever!
(John 18:20) The Prophet Isaiah said, "But Israel shall be saved in the Lord with an everlasting salvation, ye shall not be ashamed nor confounded, WORLD without end." (Isaiah 45:20) Really, John 3:14 puts John 3:16 in context as it refers to an event which happened only to Israel in the wilderness as Numbers 21:6-9 explains.

(Mine) My first problem is translating the word εἰς in the phrase εἰς πάσας τὰς γενεὰς.
People want to assume the last days or end times is about the end of the physical cosmos / world. That is wrong, as the Bible never speaks about the end of the physical world, or the end of Christ's kingdom. His kingdom is everlasting, world without end (Isa. 45:17; Eph. 3:21).

Their garments were soiled (Revelation 3:1-6), that is, their Christian testimony was compromised with the world, because they were sleep-walking in the darkness.
