Kaur was born on 8 July 1991 in Ludhiana, Punjab, to a Punjabi Sikh family. She completed her schooling from Sacred Heart Convent School, Ludhiana and later moved to New Delhi for further studies. She completed her B. Com Honors from Hindu College, New Delhi.
Though Jasleen was born in a Sikh family, she is a non-religious person. In 2009, she participated in the reality show ‘India’s Got Talent’ Season 1. She made her singing debut in 2013 with the song ”Panchi Hojavan” for which she received the Best Indie Song award at the MTV Video Music Awards India.
