Wellington High School is a co-educational secondary school in the CBD of Wellington, New Zealand. It has a role of approximately 1500 students. It was founded in 1886 as the Wellington College of Design (later the Wellington Technical School), to provide a more practical education than that offered by the existing schools.

Our long-term international students are prepared for university or polytechnic study either in New Zealand or overseas. Our short-term students enjoy studying and learning in a new culture."
It contains a few small rural primary schools, some small town primary and secondary schools, and a large number of city schools. In New Zealand schools, students begin formal education in Year 1 at the age of five. [1] . Year 13 is the final year of secondary education. Years 14 and 15 refer to adult education facilities.
It is the only state co-educational secondary school in the Wellington inner city area. The school values diversity and students do not wear a school uniform. We have a roll of 1400 students and generally have 75 – 80 international students from over 20 different countries.

The School will consider all requests for a refund of international student fees. Requests should be made in writing to the School as soon as possible after the circumstances leading to a request. Non-refundable fees include: Administration Fee; Insurance; Homestay Placement Fee; Used Homestay Fee; Tuition fees in most circumstances
