Unfortunately titles originally only available in SD will not even get upgraded to HD if that becomes an option at a later date.
Jun 26, 2021 · The TV app clearly shows the movie as HD, but when I re-download it, the movie is, again, the SD version. If I delete the movie from the TV app database, the storefront in the TV app still recognizes that I already own the movie and won't let me purchase the better format, only re-download the version I own.
Jul 19, 2023 · 4k Movie Updates It is my understanding that Apple rolled out a feature around the release of its 4k TV where they would update a movie from HD to 4k if it was purchased through the iTunes store. However, my question is this: If I purchase a movie now (2021), through the iTunes store, and the highest quality available for purchase currently is HD, if 4k quality becomes available for purchase will Apple automatically update my HD purchase?

Apr 9, 2018 · 1. From desktop iTunes, buy movie as a gift. Code is se t to you, enter code and it will give you a purchased version and thus it upgrades to 4k. 2. Assuming there is a digital code, but it directly on a code website and then input code into iTunes, then you have bought iTunes copy and upgrade to 4k. Hope this helps.

Mar 20, 2019 · Yes, currently as of now, you will not be able to switch the movie, you will need to pay for it. Sharan. I have carefully reviewed UK iTunes Store and found that those movies have been modified on UK iTunes Store that is the reason you are unable to watch them in 4K. Sharan.
Nov 17, 2013 · If you rent a movie from iTunes store, before the 24-hour period expires, can you upgrade it to a purchase? Never mind, I've seen a number of other answers of 'No'. Too bad, I really liked the last movie I rented, but policies like this drive home how much Apple doesn't really seem to care about their customers.
