  4. Lenin criticizes the distortion of Marxism by the bourgeoisie and the opportunists, who claim that the state reconciles classes or is the reality of the ethical idea. He quotes Engels to show that the state is a product of the irreconcilability of class antagonisms and an organ of class rule.
