Sep 22, 2020 · The house next door has been unoccupied for almost 2 years now. At some point in the near future i'm sure they will have someone moving in, but there were some boundary issues that took a long time to sort, which are now sorted. I have no idea when the house will be occupied again.
Nov 25, 2020 · Unfortunately, as you have discovered, some lenders simply refuse to lend on properties next door if the property is adjoining for fear of the owners knocking through and creating one dwelling. Understandably, that risk is reduced if there is clear space between the one they own and the one they intend to purchase.
May 28, 2022 · This is all because we have a shared garden wall, and I need the owner's go-ahead to fix it and attach a fence on my side - I'm even willing to pay to do the work (I'm having other work done on the garden and house, so adding this on won't actually be that much), all I need is permission and agreement that the builder can work from both sides of the wall.
My rental property is next door (terraced) to an empty house and Im positive the damp in the bathroom on the adjoining wall is coming from there. WE had a similar problem in the lounge about 4yrs ago but they renovated the property and all was fine. Its now been empty for some considerable time, well over a year I would guess at.

In time I intend to turn the 2 house into 1 and therefore will eventually sell as 1 property. In order to raise some funds though, the short term plan is to rent out the house next door before combining the two.

Oct 20, 2013 · The elderly couple on the house next door passed away 5 years ago and the house hasn't been occupied since. It did go through probate and now belongs to the ladies brother, but unfortunately he hasn't been to the house for 3 years and we have been maintaining the garden and generally checking on the house.

Jan 12, 2014 · Hi, does anyone have any advice on buying a house next to chip shop? My husband and I love a Victorian semi which is semi 'd onto a chip shop. It closes early etc but we have heard that it may be difficult to get a mortgage and more importantly to sell it in future (we have large deposit) and that it could really devalue house if the housing bubble bursts again.
Jan 19, 2012 · The house next door to ours is in a state of advanced disrepair, rotten windows, collapsed guttering, damp problems, massively over grown back garden just for starters. The house is rented by a gentleman who has lived in this state for the last 27 years .
