The entire operation ended in failure as Subutai was routed by only 1,000 soldiers under Wanyan Hada's leading general Wanyan Cheng Monk. In fact, the Jin Shi mentioned clearly that only 50,000 of the 150,000 force were eliminated at Sanfeng: suggesting that those which were trapped by Subutai was probably no larger than 50,000.
