We are particularly pleased to host semi-plenary sessions set up by the Brazilian Sociological Society with the Porto Alegre Local Organizing Committee, by the Latin American Sociological Association and by the Latin American Council of Social Sciences, and that the president of the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa will join us in the closing session.
The series Challenges of Contemporary Brazil was produced by Conta Pra Mim Filmes, a production company from Rio Grande do Sul, under the general direction of Professor Hermílio Santos, with funding from the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes). The production was recorded in places like Complexo de Favelas da Maré, in Rio de Janeiro, and the city of Brasília.

share some challenges faced by Brazil and by Porto Alegre inhabitants. This series was realized by Hermilio Santos, with funding initially destined for the ISA Forum. In spite of receiving these short movies less than 48 hours before the start of the Forum, the ISA secretariat was able to make them available online during the Forum.
