Ms. Kaho Minami, who played the role of Mozasu's girlfriend, Etsuko, and Mr. Sohee Park (aka Soji Arai), who played the role of Mozasu, who runs a pachinko parlor in the drama, Pachinko. They are both ethnic Koreans born and raised in Japan. I have a few questions in mind, but would like to get your ideas of what to ask!

I haven’t seen much hype around it especially on this sub but I’ve been watching the episodes and as someone who has read the book first (yes the book is awesome), the show is doing a fantastic job on the pacing, CAST/acting, plot, and cinematography to bring the book to life.

As well as to immigrants and refugees struggling to survive in a new and sometimes hostile environment. But specifically Pachinko is a work of art that truly celebrates the Korean people.

Mar 12, 2021 · Ahhhhhhh, I finished Pachinko yesterday and I really enjoyed it! It was a strange experience in a way. Family sagas aren’t usually my thing and I didn’t feel super connected to any of its many characters, but found myself reading several pages at a time and always coming back hungry for more.
Apr 22, 2022 · I read Pachinko and at first scoffed at the idea of a backstory for Koh Hansu. However, almost immediately, I came around and this is the episode I didn’t know I needed. So many scenes that sit continue to sit with me including the pearl scene- which for me embodies how the American family truly saw Koh Hansu.
To explain it in real life, Essentially Pachinko is Japan’s way of circumventing gambling laws. They’re just fancy and elaborate slot machines, but instead of winning money directly you win little medal balls that are basically points. You trade in your points for prizes, to which you get those prizes and sell them at a pawnshop.
May 8, 2022 · Modern pachinko machines are slightly different; while there are sometimes still multiple holes that give small pay-outs, the main objective of the game is to get the ball into a single "start" hole, typically labelled "start". When the ball enters it you start a "minigame" on a screen in the centre.
But still much is not clear, like hana loves solomon from high school so that means mom dated pachinko dad since then, so it means hana stayed at solomon's place, then i suppose she wasn't living a squalid life that she should be acting so bitter. As she was still with mom and her well off bf i dont think she suffered financially as well.
Disliking pachinko parlors is a valid sentiment that many of us share, but you're being mocked for neglecting to realize the hypocrisy of criticizing Japan's gambling as "the worst part" when it not only exists in your country too, but is so far, far, FAR from the seediest Japan has to offer.
