"Not for resale" means just that. It was given to a person who cannot resell it to anyone else. Maybe it was part of a free promotion, like a prize at some sort of event, or a "free gift" at a conference. That sort of thing. So no, in theory you should not be able to buy it on Ebay. I don't know if MS tracks those specific licenses or not. . *****.

I have found several threads regarding this, and in every one there are always multiple people who have the same question, and without fail, every single post gets a response from someone at Microsoft stating "XXXX, please check your private mail box for a message.
I acquired at a thrift store a Microsoft Flight Simulator program which is still sealed. I thought maybe I could sell it online, but I did not want to get into trouble with Microsoft. It has stickers that says "PROMOTIONAL SAMPLE NOT FOR RESALE" "FOR EMPLOYEE USE ONLY". The thing is that this version is from 1991.

Hi. I wonder if someone can help. If someone has a not for resale copy of Microsoft Office Professional 2010 but has no need for it, can it be resold, as its a waste of money. Thank you
