The film is based on the 1961 James Bond novel Thunderball by Ian Fleming, which in turn was based on an original story by Kevin McClory, Jack Whittingham, and Fleming. James Bond 007 makes his way for one last mission. Two American nuclear warheads have been stolen by the S.P.E.C.T.R.E. organization and its leader, Ernst Stavro Blofeld. The British re-activate their "00" section and send Bond off to the Bahamas to recover them.
