With the enactment of ‘The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education’ (RTE) Act 2009, government is obligated in ensuring eight years of quality education for all children in the age group 6-14 years.
The National Achievement Survey (NAS) conducted throughout the country on November 13, 2017 for Classes 3, 5 and 8 in government and government aided schools. The survey tools used multiple test booklets with 45 questions in Classes III and V and 60 questions in Class VIII in Mathematics, Language, Sciences and Social Sciences.
The Government of India has been implementing a programme of sample based National Achievement Survey (NAS) aimed at classes III, V, VIII and X with a cycle period of three years. The last round of NAS was held on November 12, 2021 across India covering students of grades 3, 5, 8 and 10.
