Lourdes has become a major place of Roman Catholic pilgrimage and of miraculous healings. The 150th Jubilee of the first apparition took place on 11 February 2008 with an outdoor Mass attended by approximately 45,000 pilgrims. In 2020, Lourdes had a population of around 15,000.
Every day, for more than 160 years, the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes has welcomed pilgrims from all over the world, especially the most fragile and suffering, so that everyone can experience the grace of Lourdes.
