  1. Oct 12, 2006 · Premium bonds or lottery? Both are gambling. Premium bonds - advantage might be said to be: you don't lose your original stake, with lottery you do. I wouldn't touch either of them with the proverbial. Working out the comparative chances of winning with one as against the other is IMHO a complete and utter waste of time and energy.

  2. May 21, 2019 · Just been looking at their accounts/forecasts and they expect to take in about £390,000,000 a year which equals 3,250,000 players @ £10 a month, people can play with more than 1 ticket and there can be several people playing in each postcode but just taking 5% of the number as being unique postcodes there would still be over 162,000 so with 1,000 £10 and 1,000 £20 prizes the odds are approx 160 to 1 for each (a win on each of the £10 and £20 draws about every 3 years)

Aug 3, 2019 · if I am fortunate enough to win the lottery game "set for life" which pays the top prize winner £10,000 per month for thirty years, would I be liable to pay income tax on the winnings? A friend has stated that the first payment would be tax-free but all further payments would be liable to pay income tax on.

  6. Apr 9, 2024 · I received this email last week and I actually gave them a call (yes, I've got too much spare time at the moment ha).

  7. May 30, 2018 · Would having a DD to play the National Lottery be seen disfavourably with a potential lender? In the same way other gambling (i.e. bookies, app casinos etc) would be? Any mortgage pros care to offer their thoughts?

  8. Mar 21, 2023 · For my birthday, a close relative always gives me two National Lottery tickets, and I do the same for her. This year, I won a significant amount of money, and I'm not sure whether she might expect me to split it with her, given the reciprocal nature of the exchange.

  9. Jul 31, 2022 · The lotto, the postcode lottery and various other charity draws all donate higher percentages to charity than this lot (I have seen 15% as the figure quoted for the house draws) They offer the free entry route simply as it's loophole that allows them to run the draws "for profit"
