Krasnodar Krai (Russian: Краснода́рский край, romanized: Krasnodarskiy kray, IPA: [krəsnɐˈdarskʲɪj kraj]) is a federal subject of Russia (a krai), located in the North Caucasus region in Southern Russia and is administratively a part of the Southern Federal District. Its administrative center is the city of Krasnodar.
Krasnodar is the largest city and capital of Krasnodar Krai by population and the second-largest by area. It is the 17th-largest city in Russia as of 2010 [update] and the 13th-largest city in Russia as of 2021. It is located on the right bank of the Kuban River.
