Jett Lucas on the EU. Katie Lucas is a fan as well. She's the one who tried to salvage as much of Ventress's backstory as possible. (She also hilariously called out Dave, when he tried to take credit for Darth Maul with cybernetic legs.) I mean, Katie Lucas was a writer on the Darth Maul returns arc.
Characters Lucas may have approved but not ones he painstakingly considered their backstory and their motivation. Compare Han Solo to say Hando, and it's like a cardboard cutout to a living breathing conniving cutout. All that to say, sure we wouldn't get clone wars without Lucas's bad writing, but that's true in more ways than one.
