Based on the Toronto post it seems I’d likely be challenged as “black persons and white persons who appeared intelligent” were immediately challenged.
May 7, 2024 · Let's say out of a pool of 1000 summoned jurors, 10% do not show up. That is 100. And suppose the judges get pissed and actually issue warrants for those 100 people. They give you specific instructions, have you watch a video, and then you wait in the room. As they need people for juries, they may call groups of 20-30 people, and send them to a courtroom.

Nov 17, 2022 · It was a fairly long trial, about six weeks, and the responsibility really weighed on my shoulders but I would also say it was a rewarding experience. It felt like we were playing an important role and of course we were asked to make an important decision and everyone on the jury took it very seriously. mark364i.
Dec 15, 2021 · Suppose the enjoyment level will depend on the subject matter and your peers. In my particular case, we required to come in everyday (M-F), between 9-4. Sometimes there were long stretches of being in the jury room - due to lawyer discussions, recess, adjournment, etc. and long sessions of sitting in court.
I've sat on three Superior Court (state) juries and one federal jury - two civil and two criminal trials - three times as a jury foreperson. I've spent several months, in total, on jury duty. It is a serious responsibility to decide someone's punishment. Please participate in the process. You will learn a lot if you are selected.
