Henry Lomb (born Heinrich Lomb; () November 24, 1828 – () June 13, 1908) was a German-American optician who co-founded Bausch & Lomb (with John Jacob Bausch) and led a group of businessmen to found The Mechanics Institute, the forerunner of Rochester Institute of Technology.
In 1853, John Bausch and Henry Lomb, both German immigrants, established a small but ambitious workshop producing monocles in Rochester, New York. [ 13 ] [ 14 ] By 1861, their operation had expanded to manufacturing vulcanite rubber eyeglass frames and other precision vision products.
