Guava Island was shot in summer last year, meaning that it was almost certainly already in pre-production when This is America was released, and potentially already in production when Summer Pack released. Let's also keep in mind that Hiro Murai, who directed this movie, also directed the music video for This is America.
Apr 13, 2021 · I am obsessed with Glover's project Guava Island and am dying to get my hands on a copy of the soundtrack (physical or digital - either would do). There is a version of Summertime Magic that plays over the radio that is more acoustic and sounds so smooth. And the Red's Cargo song is also a stroke of genius. Let me know if you can help me out!

The other thing that you’re getting [with the film-out] is you retain a little bit of the Kodak color palette in terms of skin tones and the way that highlights are handled on the film emulsion.

It’s most likely been licensed to another platform as part of the windowing process in distribution, thereby allowing Amazon to make additional $ off of the film as they began to do with their other original programming last year.
Apr 13, 2019 · EDIT: They misspelled DJ Dahi's name in Guava Island's credits it looks like. Well, musicians collaborate all the time and it may not even come out. The fact this was released on a movie doesn’t mean it’s for sure coming out on the album, especially since the album seems to be having a much different tone.
