God Exists, Her Name Is Petrunija (Macedonian: Господ постои, името ѝ е Петрунија, romanized: Gospod postoi, imeto ì e Petrunija), also spelt Petrunya in English translation, is a 2019 Macedonian drama film directed by Teona Strugar Mitevska. It tells the story of a woman who wins a local contest, but because its usually reserved for men she becomes ostracised for it.
United States (English (United States)) In Stip, a small town in Macedonia, every January the local priest throws a wooden cross into the river and hundreds of men dive after it. Good fortune and prosperity are guaranteed to the man who retrieves it. This time, Petrunya dives into the water on a whim and manages to grab the cross before the others.
